I found a great article at the Mills Communications Group blog about the importance of listening when engaging in marketing through social media.  I agree that this is a very important task that should take place daily, weekly and monthly.  Before you just go blabbing and shamelessly promoting yourself have a listen.

We have started a new user group on the popular social networking site Biznik.  The group  Basecamp users is for new and experienced Basecamp users to help each other collaborate more effectively.   The plan is to have discussions around the subject of Basecamp as well as other 37 Signals products such as Highrise and Campfire.  We will publish articles and in the future hold events revolving around the use of Basecamp and how it can help you work more effectively.  Join now and participate in the conversation!

Bloggers and web pros alike are buzzing about this open source endeavor called Buddypress. Buddypress is an add on to your WordPress MU (multi-user) install that adds a dynamic, extensible, and robust social networking aspect to your site. You can have user profiles, feeds, commenting and many of the other fun goodies that come along with a social media site. I can see this as being a very powerful tool for small groups and associations who want to keep in touch online. For now Buddypress is still in Beta but it is already a powerful tool in use by some very interesting groups. I am excited to see where it will go and how I can use it in future projects.
